- you only study 3 subjects in sem 1 of year 3 so you can choose an elective
- this elective (AT3000) runs in block mode (January) before sem 1 starts

- very good learning + only chance you get to dissect!
- very chill environment, listen to the radio in labs, talk to the other person at your table, free to walk around and even leave if you need more of a break
- not academically tough, you only need to know the anatomy of the region you are dissecting for the vivas (definitely don’t need to relearn all of MSS)
- opportunity to get paid to dissect during sem1 - very fun/recommend! also have a better chance of becoming an anatomy tutor if you studied AT3000
- your work gets turned into prosections for future students to learn from in labs
- occurs before sem 1 starts (get to enjoy a 3-subject sem)
- no written exams
- plenty of time for rest (subject structure - as of 2023 - below)
- 2 weeks of online learning (prerecorded lectures, no required attendance)
- 1 week of labs (dissection 1)
- 1 rest week
- 1 week of labs (dissection 2)
- 1 rest week
- oral presentation

- time-intensive (only referring to the 2 weeks where you are in the lab for 7hrs/ day)
- limited class size (25) - uncertainty if you get it even if it’s your first preference
- wasn’t taught how to dissect
- must be in Townsville for the lab weeks

- dissection 1 (15%)
- 1 week in the lab dissecting a specific region
- dissection 1 is musculoskeletal (2023 options below)
- shoulder and brachium
- antebrachium and hand
- hip and thigh
- leg and foot
- viva 1 (15%)
- 10min session in labs where you talk about the anatomy of your specimen
- will do well if you know Gray’s level anatomy and anatomical variation specific to your specimen
- dissection 2 (20%)
- similar to dissection 1 (given 1 week in labs) but this is a specialised dissection
- specialised, meaning you dissect something more complex (2023 options below)
- sagittal head and neck
- whole neck
- back and sympathetic chain
- chest plate and heart/ lungs
- thorax
- abdomen
- pelvis (male and female)
- viva 2 (15%)
- oral presentation (35%)
- formal 15min presentation with ppt slides on a clinical topic of your choice
- clinical topic must relate to the region you dissected in the 2nd dissection
- must show how anatomy informs the clinical presentation and its management

-
don’t study all of MSS; you only need to know the region that you are dissecting
-
use the 2 weeks of online learning to learn how to dissect
-
HD the dissections by watching the Anatomy Guy
-
HD the vivas by learning Gray’s
- learn O/I, innervation, and function of all muscles in your region
- type all of this info out on a Word doc, print it and bring it into labs to practice
- also turn this info into Anki cards and grind that during the week in labs
- this is my Anki for AT3000
- it s the UMich Cadaver Deck cut down to the scope of MSS + 2 viva decks
- as stated above, ignore the MSS cards, only study the region you dissect
- MSS cards are only there cause I didn’t know any better
